Most people who consider this pistol may be concerned that it is too small to shoot effectively.
The G42 is obviously very small, with a frame size smaller than even your typical "compact" pistol. That being said, the G42 wasn't all that difficult to shoot. The softer .380 ACP cartridge I believe helped in this aspect. This pistol was perfectly manageable to handle and shoot at a defensive range of 7 yards.
Compared to other 380 ACP subcompact pistols I've shot, it was really easy in the hand. Follow-up shots also seemed easier than I expected with the G42. After several hundred rounds the hand was not crying for mercy. In other words, the G42 was still quite comfortable to shoot.

Taking this pistol to the range and firing a few hundred rounds allowed me to feel the trigger. For a stock Glock trigger, it was decent. I wouldn't say it was good...but decent. The pistol I tested had a fairly predictable break and sharp reload. I tested 10 pools and they averaged less than 5 pounds. I checked for pistols.
Other critics of the G42 expressed dissatisfaction with the G42 trigger. All I can say is that compared to alternatives like the Ruger LCP and LCP2, this trigger is great. I noticed a short break and a clean break not found in other "pocket pistols".
When it comes to sights, we're used to having few options, and that's the case with the G42. The pistol I tested was equipped with Ameriglow bold sights. Target contrast and follow-up shots were easy - especially with medium calibers.
