Oklahoma Military Academy - CLARMORE, Oklahoma — Members of the public will be able to visit the newly renovated Oklahoma Military Academy Museum on the campus of Rogers State University Monday, September 26 at 4:00 pm. until 6 pm

OMA Alumni Association Executive Director Dr. Danette Boyle said the restoration project, which has lasted over a year, aims to preserve the OMA legacy for new generations.

The project was led by Dr. Bob Blackburn, who recently retired as executive director of the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

His father went to OMA and Blackburn grew up in Claremore. The museum will focus on the school's history from 1919 to 1971, when it was called West Point Southwest.

According to the OMA Alumni Association, more than 10,000 cadets have studied at the academy, more than 2,500 graduates have served in the US military during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, and more than 100 OMA cadets have given their lives for their country.

The Oklahoma Military Academy Museum collects and displays items of significance to the history of the pre-Rogers State University school.

RSU offers a Guards Officer Leadership Development Program at RSU whereby students can earn the rank of second lieutenant and become an officer in the National Guard.

A grand re-opening was held at the museum on Friday, September 23rd and Saturday, September 24th for OMA alumni and guests.

The newly renovated museum, located on the second floor of Meyer Hall on the grounds of Rogers State University, will be open to visitors free of charge Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
